Teen charged with killing her baby 2 years later

GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) — A Gaffney teen has been accused of the 2010 death of her 13-week-old son.

The State Law Enforcement Division announced Wednesday that agents arrested 19-year-old Fantasia Barnett-Butler last week.

An arrest warrant says Barnett-Butler showed extreme indifference and neglect toward her son when he died in April 2010, but didn’t give any details. She is charged with homicide by child abuse.

Barnett-Butler’s father told WYFF-TV (http://bit.ly/KUfQ6D ) that he was told by the coroner two years ago that his grandson died from accidental smothering and he was told six months ago by SLED the investigation into the infant’s death was over.

Barnett-Butler is being held in the Cherokee County jail. It’s not known if she has an attorney.
