Man arrested in Horry County shooting death

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — A Myrtle Beach man has been arrested in the shooting death of a man near Conway earlier this month.

Twenty-one-year-old Shelton Lathal Butler Jr. was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder.

Horry County Police Sgt. Robert Kegler says officers and U.S. Marshals arrested Butler after he was tracked by dogs in a wooded area.

Butler is charged in the June 8 death of 20-year-old Jose Gutierez of Myrtle Beach.

Police are still looking for 19-year-old Donavon Curtis Johnson on the same charge.

Police had been called to a report of shots fired and were told a victim had been taken away by three women. Gutierez died shortly after he was taken to Conway medical Center.
