COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “I have faith in my Gamecocks, they are back to back champs and they are going to be 3-peater,” says Shane Ward, Gamecock fan. For fans, it was high hopes and a lot of nerves going into Thursday’s must-win match up against Kent State. “If we lose, we’re going home and we are not going to get that 3-peat,” says Nicole Kourounis, Gamecock fan. “I don’t know if any Gamecock fans have any fingernails left to be honest with you,” says Scott Wilson. “Just that we don’t choke up like the Gamecocks are known for doing sometimes,” says Kourounis. With fingers crossed and eyes on the game, fans turned the Carolina Ale House in the Vista into Gamecock central. “A lot of tv’s a lot of Gamecock fans here,” says Kourounis “We knew there was a bunch of TV’s here,” says Ben Carter. Run by run, fans took a small breath of relief. “It’s the bottom of the 5th, we’ve got a 3 run lead, so I think we can pull it out, I think we will be alright,” says Carter. He was right, that three run lead carried the Gamecocks to another win in Omaha. Leaving fans happy at least for a few hours until it’s time to take on Arkansas. “One game at a time,” says Wilson. “One game at at time, that’s all that matters in baseball,” says Ward. “Go Gamecocks, battle win anyway,” says Carter. The Gamecocks will face the Arkansas Razorbacks Thursday at 9:00 p.m.
