SC deputies rule involuntary manslaughter in death
NORTH, S.C. (AP) — Orangeburg County deputies say a 24-year-old man has been arrested after shooting his girlfriend in what he says was an accident.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Marcellous Jamison was charged with involuntary manslaughter after the woman was found dead in a home in North around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
The sheriff says Jamison told investigators he was just playing with the gun with his 24-year-old girlfriend when it fired.
Authorities say there is enough evidence that Jamison was reckless with the weapon to lead to the charges, but didn’t provide additional details.
Jamison is in jail awaiting a Friday bond hearing. It wasn’t clear whether he had a lawyer.
The victim’s name has not been released.
