USC’s Roth Makes Pro Debut

(WOLO) — It wasn’t the start he would’ve hoped for, but Michael Roth can now call himself a professional pitcher. Wednesday night in Billings, Montana, the former Gamecock All-American and College World Series record-setter started for the Orem Owlz, the rookie affiliate for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Roth pitched 1.2 innings, gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 1 strikeout in his first outing in professional baseball. Roth addressed the outing on Twitter. “On a 30 pitch count all year which is tough but enjoyed my first pro outing!”
