SC Pro-Am League Tips Off

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Gamecock basketball players don’t have to go out of town to get a good summer game anymore. Sunday the new South Carolina Summer Pro-Am League tipped off in Columbia. Former players and current professionals Devan Downey, Carlos Powell and Zam Fredrick along with current Gamecocks Eric Smith, Carlton Geathers and others are participating. The 10-team league created by former Gamecock basketball manager Adam McDowell and run by former Gamecock basketball captain Carey Rich will play an 8-game regular season schedule and concludes with playoffs August 10-12. Utah Jazz Head Coach and former A.C. Flora standout Tyrone Corbin attended the first day of games. His son, Tyrell is in the new league. “It’s a tremendous honor that have an opportunity to play and develop their games in the summer,” Corbin said.
