WWII vets attending ceremony in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Hundreds of World War II vets are gathering in North Charleston for a celebration hosted by 1st District Congressman Tim Scott.

About 275 veterans are expected for the Saturday’s scheduled event at the North Charleston Coliseum.

The keynote speaker for the ceremony is Pat Waters, the grandson of World War II Gen. George Patton.

The ceremony honors living veterans as well as those who have died. Those attending will receive a certificate of recognition and a pin.

There’s also a display of World War II artifacts including jeeps, artillery, uniforms and other items.
