Arrest made in 40-year-old Greenville homicide
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Greenville County deputies say they have made an arrest in a beating death nearly 40 years ago.
Investigators said 63-year-old Stoney Honeycutt was arrested Monday at his home and charged with murder.
Deputies say a cold case team was reviewing old cases in April and found information that the team wanted to follow up in the beating death of Guy Jordon in December 1972.
Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Michael Hildebrand says investigators talked to several witnesses and followed up the new leads they found, giving them enough evidence to arrest Honeycutt.
Hildebrand says more arrests are possible.
A message to the home where Honeycutt was living wasn’t returned and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
