Greenville County authorities identify fire victim

PELZER, S.C. (AP) — Greenville County authorities have identified a woman killed in a mobile home fire near Pelzer.

Coroner Tom Selfridge says 67-year-old Martha Linda Peeples lived alone in the home and was unable to escape the flames early Tuesday morning.

South Greenville firefighters found her body in a bedroom of the home. Peeples was pronounced dead at the scene.

Selfridge says an autopsy showed Peeples died from smoke inhalation.

Fire Chief Ken Taylor says the fire ignited by a cigarette started the fire in the bedroom of the home.
