USC QB McEvoy To Transfer

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Less than ten days after being arrested and charged with two misdemeanors, USC announced redshirt freshman quarterback Tanner McEvoy has left the team and will transfer. The school made the announcement Tuesday night. In a statement, Steve Spurrier said, “The Gamecock coaching staff and I wish Tanner all the best, as he continues his collegiate career elsewhere.” McEvoy was pulled over in Mecklenburg County, N.C. on July 29th and charged with speeding and driving after consuming. Per university athletics department policy, McEvoy was suspended after his arrest but was with the team for the start of preseason practice The 6-6, 209-pound quarterback was a fourth-teamer on the depth chart entering preseason practice. In USC’s 2012 spring game, McEvoy was 8-12 passing for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
