Richland One Teachers Head Back to School
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — As thousands of South Carolina students prepare to head back to the classroom next week, hundreds of Richland County School District One teachers and staff received a welcome back all their own today during annual convocation. Amid music, fun and encouraging words, educators realize there is more work to be done. The school’s overall federal grade was 89.6. Officials want to improve that and have adopted a new motto for the new school year: Going for the Gold. For the first time under federal accountability law, South Carolina schools and school districts received letter grades based upon student achievement. Educators claim it’s a transparent way to convey how schools are performing. Richland One students head back to class August 20.
