SC’s Benedict College hosts annual community event

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Benedict College is inviting local youth and their parents for its fifth annual gathering designed to strengthen communities around its campus.

The historically black college in Columbia is holding the event Saturday at the school’s community park on Laurel Street.

Spokeswoman Kymm Hunter says the free gathering brings together hundreds of children for a day filled with recreation, entertainment and educational opportunities.

Local law enforcement and other community organizations are joining in the effort to provide resources to help families and communities.
