CIU to play first intercollegiate game in 90-year history

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — For the first time in its 90-year history, Columbia International University, a local Christian university, will compete athletically on an intercollegiate level this fall. On Saturday, August 25, the men’s soccer team will take to their new field off of Monticello Road and face the Toccoa Falls Eagles at 7 p.m. The school’s mascot is the CIU Rams, a reference to the animal in the Old Testament and a symbol of the school’s Biblical roots. CIU is a member of the NCCAA, the National Christian College Athletic Association, which consists of about 100 schools across the country. The school is also preparing for its first cross country meet scheduled for August 31.
