USC Police: 5 Guns Found in Student’s Dorm Room

Columbia, SC (WOLO)– A USC Freshman is facing charges after police say they found five handguns in his dorm room. A spokesperson for the university says 17 year old Trevor Stephens of Walterboro was arrested Tuesday night. Officials say a faculty member was tipped to the allegations and after a search of Stephens Maxcy College dorm room they found five handguns. Firearms, students say were all loaded with ammunition. USC Police say Stephens was cooperative during questioning and as he was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of guns. Students returning to the University for the Fall Semester say they were shocked when they learned the news via University email. Some who lived in the same dorm say the alleged incident is just a little too close for comfort. University officials say Stephens has been suspended from the university and is no longer allowed to on campus. Additional charges in the case are pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
