Midlands communities holding water festival

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — While school may have started across much of South Carolina, there still time to have some summer fun.

The City of Columbia, Lexington County and Richland County are partnering up for the third annual Summer Celebration of Water Festival. The free, family friendly event is scheduled for Saturday at Riverfront Park in Columbia.

Several companies will be on-site sponsoring activities including stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking and tubing. Kids can also splash in a human car wash. There are also several food vendors and opportunities to learn about the importance of having access to clean water.
