Pacific Park in Columbia closed to public

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The Pacific Park in Columbia has been closed to the public for a safety study. The city announced that public access has been closed to the park located on Wayne Street in order to conduct a study of lead and arsenic contamination. Officials say the contamination was found six feet below the ground in that area. City Manager Steve Gantt says even though there is contamination in the area, it is not considered a health hazard because of its depth.
