Clemens playing in amateur golf tournament

LORIS, S.C. (AP) — Just a few hours after throwing a baseball again, Roger Clemens is on a South Carolina golf course chasing a golf ball.

Clemens is playing this week at the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship. It’s attracted about 3,100 amateur golfers to courses in the Myrtle Beach area.

About 36 hours before Clemens’ Monday round, he resumed his pro baseball career. He tossed a 3 1/3-inning shutout performance for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League.

Clemens says he doesn’t have any more pitching starts scheduled but that could change in the next couple of days. He said his arm feels fine and that playing in the golf tournament is good exercise.
