Vigil held for missing SC teen
ELGIN, S.C. (AP) — Dozens of people gathered for a vigil for a teen missing for two weeks.
The prayer service for 15-year-old Gabrielle Swainson was held at Elgin Town Hall on Sunday evening.
Fifty-two-year-old Freddie Grant was charged with kidnapping last week. But Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says Grant has been uncooperative and officers l don’t know where the teen is.
Officials say the girl’s blood has been found on duct tape at Grant’s home in Elgin, as well as at a junkyard near his home. Lott says those areas have been searched thoroughly.
He says officers are awaiting DNA tests on items found in Grant’s car.
Grant’s lawyers have filed a request to stop Lott from talking about the case.
Lott says Grant knows where the girl is.
