AG Wilson: South Carolinians to receive portion of $141 million TurboTax settlement
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson says thousands of South Carolinians will receive checks from a $141 million multi-state settlement beginning next week.
Millions of Americans and more than 72,000 S.C. taxpayers were tricked by TurboTax’s owner Intuit into paying to file their federal tax returns when it should have been free, according to a press release by the Office of the Attorney General.
Eligible consumers include those who paid to file for tax years 2016, 2017, and 2018, say officials.
Individuals will be contacted by email and will receive checks between $29 and $30 without needing to file a claim.
