COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The sixth ranked Gamecocks play Kentucky this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky. Here are the numbers on the Wildcats. Passing Starting quarterback Maxwell Smith is expected to play this weekend against the Gamecocks after throwing on Tuesday and practicing hand offs on Wednesday. Smith has 966 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions on 102 of 149 passing attempts. If Smith cannot go on Saturday or has to leave the game early then the next in line is unclear. Last weekend, against Florida senior back-up Morgan Newton got the start but threw three interceptions before being replaced by freshman Jalen Whitlow. On, Monday Kentucky’s Head Football Coach Joker Phillips suggested that Whitlow might get the start if Smith was unable to play. Rushing The Wildcats have two junior running backs that get carries. Jonathan George has more carries on the season with 32 carries for 155 yards and 3 TDs. Raymond Sanders has more yards this year with 201 yards on 26 carries and has one touchdown. Defense Kentucky has 10 sacks and 2 interceptions on the season (four games). Alvin Dupree is the teams leader in sacks at 2. The Wildcats are ranked 82nd in points against allowing 29 points per game. Comparing this to the Gamecocks; who have 15 sacks and 5 interceptions through four games. Sophomore Jadeveon Clowney is USC’s leader in sacks at 4.5. The Gamecocks are ranked 5th in the nation in points against allowing 9.75 points per game.
