Grant Pleads Not Guilty

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO/AP) — A man accused of abducting a Columbia teen who has been missing for more than a month pleaded not guilty to a federal ammunition charge. Freddie Grant, 52, went before a judge Tuesday. Grant was indicted last month for being a felon in possession of ammunition. Grant has been in jail since shortly after the disappearance of 15-year-old Gabrielle Swainson. Authorities say Swainson was last seen by her mother asleep in their Columbia home on August 18 when she went to work. When the mom returned several hours later, her daughter’s alarm clock was ringing, but she was nowhere to be found. Investigators say the teen’s blood was found on duct tape near Grant’s home.
