COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — It took more than seven years, but Steve Spurrier finally has the quarterback at South Carolina that he’s been looking for. At his weekly press conference Tuesday, Spurrier said Connor Shaw’s ability to avoid the big mistake is a big reason the #6 Gamecocks are going today’s 7 p.m. home game against #5 Georgia undefeated. After watching Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo struggle with turnovers on Monday Night Football, Spurrier is thankful to have the steady Shaw under center this season. “Our guy doesn’t do those kind of things,” Spurrier said Tuesday. “That’s why we’ve won so much with Connor…not the brilliant plays, but the lack of those real bad plays that can really hurt you. The ability to just take care of the ball is something he’s really good at.”
