Dabo On Georgia Tech QB: “He Killed Us Last Year”

(WOLO) — Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney says it doesn’t matter if the no. 15 Tigers are favored or not – especially in an ACC rivalry matchup against unranked Georgia Tech this weekend in Death Valley. The Tigers are 10-point favorites Saturday. Last year, then no. 5 Clemson was expected to win on the road at Georgia Tech, but the Yellow Jackets snapped the Tigers 8-game win streak and ended their hopes of a national title appearance. Georgia Tech and its triple-option offense run by quarterback Tevin Washington will give Clemson’s young defense a challenge. Coach Swinney remembers very well how Washington took charge last year in the Yellow Jackets 31-17 win. “He killed us last year,” said Swinney. “He set about every record in the book against us last year, absolutely just destroyed us. Big plays, rushed for 170-something yards I think, and he’s got 11 touchdowns right now. He leads the ACC in rushing touchdowns, but he’s also leading the nation in touchdowns for a quarterback.” The Tigers will face Washington and Georgia Tech Saturday at 3:30pm.
