COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Connor Shaw gets set to make his first start against his home state’s university Saturday. “Obviously, it’s big one – College Gameday, and I’m from Georgia so yeah, it’s pretty exciting,” said Shaw after Wednesday’s practice. When asked what he hoped to accomplish, Shaw said he is expecting an intense game – like every year – and that the Gamecocks will have to take good care of the ball when no. 5 Georgia rolls into town for the big top-10 SEC showdown at Williams-Brice Stadium Saturday. The Head Ball Coach knows the intensity will be through the roof this weekend. Eight of the last 11 games between Georgia and USC have been decided by seven or less points. Steve Spurrier will look to lead his no. 6 USC squad to a school-record 10-straight wins against UGA. He is expecting another close game between the two. “Most all of them have been very close, you’re right!” said Spurrier on Tuesday. “I think somebody said our largest margin of victory was that 17-6 game here a couple of years ago. But, yeah, it looks like it’s going to be a close game, but who knows what’s going to happen.” Saturday’s kickoff between South Carolina and Georgia is set for 7:00pm.
