(WOLO) — The Coaches‘ Trophy presented by Dr Pepper, which will be awarded to the 2012 national college football champions, will be on display at two Walmart Supercenters in Columbia this Friday. Fans will be able to have a free on-line photo taken with the actual Waterfordone space® Crystal football trophy that will be awarded to the 2012 national champion. WHEN / WHERE: Friday, October 5 Walmart #1339 10060 Two Notch Road Columbia, SC 1 – 3 p.m. Walmart #1183 2401 Augusta Road West Columbia, SC 4 – 6 p.m. MORE: – The Coaches‘ Trophy presented by Dr Pepper will be awarded on the field to the winner of the Discover BCS National Championship on Jan. 7, 2013 in Miami. – Created in 1986, this is the 27th year the American Football Coaches Association has awarded the trophy to the national champion. – The trophy is on a season long tour, visiting high profile games and being displayed in stores nationwide. The trophy will attend the Georgia vs. South Carolina game on Saturday. – The ball that sits atop The Coaches‘ Trophy is made of Waterfordone space® Crystal. The trophy is valued at $30,000 and takes three months to produce. – The Coaches‘ Trophy is 34 inches tall and weighs 45 pounds. The ball alone weighs approximately eight pounds. – Every year, a new trophy is made.
