COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A South Carolina win over 5th-ranked Georgia Saturday night would mean not only bragging rights for the next year for the school, but also the state. The Head Ball Coach has been able to recruit some of the best players in the SEC in the Palmetto State, including Marcus Lattimore, Alshon Jeffery, Stephon Gilmore, Jadeveon Clowney, and more recently, Shaq Roland right out of Lexington. For players from the state of South Carolina, this game against the ‘Dawgs is not only about school pride, but state pride, as well. “They look forward to these games,” said Steve Spurrier. “That’s one of the reasons they came here is because they realize, ‘Hey, South Carolina can get into these big games. I can play for my home state university and still experience the thrill of big time college football.'” The annual “border bash” between USC and UGA this season got a whole lot more intense as both the Gamecocks and Bulldogs are ranked inside the top 10 of the AP poll. Spurrier and his no. 6 Gamecocks look to win their 10th straight game, which would be a new school record. Kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium is set for 7:00pm Saturday night.
