RCSD Provides Gifts and Food to Midlands Family
RCSD adopted a midlands family in need this holiday season and provided them with gifts and Christmas dinner.
Columbia , S.C. (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department provided gifts and Christmas dinner to a midlands family in need Monday afternoon.
Sheriff Leon Lott said on November 30th, Demetria Osborne left him a message at his office asking for help this Christmas. In the message Demetria said she had a disabled son.
“I was sitting laying in the bed thinking I have nothing for Christmas for me and my son and I don’t want to feel bad for him to have nothing so I looked in the yellow pages and found Sheriff Lott’s office,” explained Osborne.
“The biggest thing was they just wanted to have a meal for Christmas and Mrs. Osborne didn’t know where it was going to come from and she needed help and she reached out to us,” said Sheriff Lott. “There was no way we were going to turn that down.”
That’s when the Youth Services Division of the Sheriff’s Department stepped in to provide the Osborne family with several gifts and a bucket of food for christmas
“I feel happy, blessed and like I want to cry,” said Osborne.
“I think people focus so much with law enforcement on bad stuff, there’s nothing bad today, this is all good,” said Sheriff Lott.
