Man rescued from island in Broad River after five days

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A man was rescued from an island in the Broad River Saturday, after being stranded for five days.

Columbia Police Department officials say 61-year-old William Brock was reported missing Christmas day. His friends had not seen him since Monday.

Officials say search crews found him on an island behind 2050 Watermark Place around 11 a.m. Saturday. That’s the last place his friends reported seeing him. Officials say Brock does not have a permanent address, and he had been camping on the island before the heavy rain earlier in the week.

We’re told Brock is okay.
