Gamecocks Drop To #8 and #9 In New Polls

COLUMBIA, S.C. (USC SID) — The University of South Carolina remained ranked in the Top 10 in both national polls released today. The Gamecocks (6-1, 4-1 SEC) are ranked ninth in this week‘s Associated Press poll and eighth in the USA Today/Coaches‘ poll. The Gamecocks saw their school-record 10-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night in a 23-21 setback at LSU. The Tigers (6-1, 2-1 SEC) are ranked sixth in both polls this week. The Gamecocks have been ranked among the nation’s Top-10 teams according to the Associated Press in 10-straight polls dating back to last season. That extends their school record. The previous mark was seven, set during the 1984 campaign. Alabama (6-0) received every first place vote in both polls. They are followed by Oregon (6-0) in both polls. Coaches poll 1.
