1 killed in crash involving train in Richland County

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say one person has died after a crash involving a passenger train and a vehicle in Richland County.

Lt. Curtis Wilson with the Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened just before 6 a.m. Wednesday at a railroad crossing.

Wilson says the man was dead when emergency crews arrived. Wilson says it hasn’t been determined how many passengers were on board the Amtrak train or where it was headed.

Investigators haven’t released any other details. They say no one else was injured.
