Gamecock Nation Rallies Around Injured Marcus Lattimore

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C, — Hundreds if not thousands of fans, staff and team members packed USC’s Horseshoe to celebrate the 21st birthday of Marcus Lattimore who suffered a season ending knee injury during Saturdays game again Tennessee. Crowds chanted Lattimore’s name, prayed for his quick recovery and sang happy birthday to him as we watched online. Teammates say, he is one of the most inspirational players on and off the field and to them, his character is more important than the game of football. While several people in the crowd held balloons to celebrate Lattimores’ 21st birthday, and wish him well with poster boards of encouraging messages, One of the most encouraging messages came from Lattimore himself. In a tweet written to the team Chaplin, Lattimore thanked all of his well wishers and said their overwhelming support has kept his spirit up as he fights to get back.
