Officer-Involved Shooting

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A Columbia Police officer is involved in a shooting incident with a suspect while responding to an overnight domestic violence call. Authorities said the officer responded to 1810 Allen Benedict Court early Friday morning, just after midnight. Police said that once he arrived, he could hear the assault taking place. While trying to subdue the suspect, 28-year-old Anthony Antron Walker, authorities said Walker went for the officer’s weapon. The officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect, according to police. He was transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.
