SEC Weekend Recap

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — South Carolina is coming off a bye week this week and hold steady in the polls at number 8 in the BCS and 11th in the Harris and USA Today polls. Here is a look at how things shape up in the SEC after this weekend. Florida and Georgia both won this weekend, Florida a 14-7 win over Missouri and Georgia a 37-10 victory over Ole Miss. The Gators game against Missouri was there last SEC contest and their win eliminated the Gamecocks from any hope of winning the SEC East. Georgia hass essentially won the East with their win two weeks ago against Florida; their last two match ups in SEC play were this past weekend against Ole Miss and now this coming weekend against a struggling Auburn team. If Georgia beats the Tigers as they should they will be playing in Atlanta on December 1st. Alabama defeated LSU this weekend 21-17 in the final minutes this past weekend giving them a stronghold on the Western Division. The Tide play Texas A&M this weekend and the Aggies currently sit in second in the West. Alabama closes out the season in two weeks against the same struggling Auburn team Georgia plays this weekend; but if the Tide wins this weekend they will have locked up the West to face Georgia for the SEC crown. In the BCS polls Alabama(1), Georgia(5), Florida(6) and LSU(7) all sit ahead of the Gamecocks(8) and all look to vie for an at large BCS bid among the rest of the teams in the nation.
