Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–It was an extremely windy day across the Midlands with wind gusts reaching up  to 53 miles per hour.

The high wind speeds knocked out power for up to more than 10,000 customers and knocked down trees including this one on Maple St. near downtown Columbia that landed on top of a taxi cab.
