USC engineering school hosts nuclear power talk
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A group that advocates on behalf of nuclear power is scheduled to present a discussion of issues concerning the construction of new reactors.
Thursday’s event at the College of Engineering and Computing is free and open to the public.
The group Clean Energy America is scheduled to discuss such issues as nuclear plant safety, the cost of electricity, radioactive waste disposal and the future of renewable energy sources.
New nuclear reactors are being built in the area of Jenkinsville near Columbia.
