Heat advisory issued for SC’s Pee Dee

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Cooler temperatures are expected in much of the state, but forecasters are warning of excessive heat in eight counties in northeastern South Carolina.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C., on Monday issued a heat advisory for Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Marlboro and Williamsburg counties.

The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Forecasters say high temperatures will range from the low to mid-90s along the coast and from the mid-90s to the upper 90s around inland areas.

Heat index readings are expected to range from 105 to 109.
