Richland Co. Councilman Charged with Felony DUI
Richland County Councilman Kelvin Washington has been charged with felony DUI, after a collision in Hopkins Saturday night
HOPKINS, S.C. (WOLO) – Richland County Councilman Kelvin Washington has been charged with felony DUI, after a collision in Hopkins Saturday night.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating, after troopers say Washington rear-ended a second vehicle around 7:45 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Bluff Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Officials say the driver of the second car was a 22-year-old man who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in that car was also taken to the hospital, but with minor injuries.
Washington was expected to appear in bond court at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Sunday afternoon.
Washington, who represents District Ten for Richland County, was arrested for not paying his taxes for three years last month. He was sentenced to probation and fined.
