According to multiple reports Wednesday, Steve Spurrier Jr. will join the Oklahoma football program in an off-the-field role with the team. Spurrier Jr. coached wide receivers with the Sooners from 1999-2001, including OU’s 2000 national championship team. He left Norman to join his father on the Washington Redskins staff. From 2005-2015 Spurrier Jr. coached wide receivers on his father’s staff at USC. He helped to develop some of the best receivers in Gamecocks football history, including Sidney Rice, Kenny McKinley, Alshon Jeffery and Pharoh Cooper.
