Troopers: One killed in accident involving garbage truck

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One person is dead after a collision involving a garbage truck on Wescott Road in Lexington County, said the SCHP.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision happened on Wescott Road, 1 mile south of Irmo around 4:35 p.m.

Troopers say a person was standing behind a legally parked garbage truck that was picking up trash west on Wescott Road when a 2014 Nissan SUV traveling west on Wescott hit the person and then the garbage truck.

The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
