Richland County deputies investigating multiple stabbings at detention center

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating three stabbings and assaults that happened at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Deputies say they responded to the detention center around 6:30 p.m. because a 35-year-old inmate had been attacked by two other inmates while he was trying to defend another inmate who was being bullied.

The victim suffered injuries to the face and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Then around the same time, deputies responded to a report that a 26-year-old inmate had been assaulted and stabbed by six to seven other inmates.
That victim suffered multiple injuries to the body from being stabbed and assaulted and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Also, around 11 p.m. a 27-year-old inmate had been assaulted by three other inmates says RCSD.
The victim suffered injuries to the face and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say currently there have been no formal charges and the investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
