New poll finds 15% or less is the standard tip at dinner
CNN– How much do you leave as a tip at a restaurant?
According to a Pew Research poll of 12 thousand Americans, a majority of Americans say 15%.
57% of those surveyed say they tip 15% at a sit-down restaurant.
A quarter of people leave 20% or more and 2% say they don’t tip at all.
The majority of those surveyed say they’re feeling the impact of “Tip-flation” with 72% saying they’re asked to tip more frequently now than five years ago.
