One dead, one hospitalized after single-vehicle collision in Sumter

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One person is dead and another was taken to a hospital after a collision in Sumter County, said the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).

According to the SCHP, the collision happened on Patriot Parkway near Shaw Drive around 7 a.m. on Nov.12.

Troopers said a 2004 Pontiac Sedan was traveling north on Patriot Parkway when it went off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead and a passenger was taken to a nearby hospital.

Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker said the person who died as a result of the collision was Joshua Allen Lee Bailey, 37, of Sumter.

The collision is under investigation by the SCHP.
