Pawmetto Lifeline launches campaign for mandatory spray/neuter ordinance
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Pawmetto Lifeline is launching a campaign to make spaying and neutering pets a legal requirement.
The organization says the Midlands has the worst euthanasia rate for pets in the state.
“We know the only long-term solution to the overpopulation issue of dogs and cats is spaying, neutering, and enforcement,” says Denise Wilkinson, CEO of Pawmetto Lifeline.
The goal of the campaign is for the Richland County, Lexington County, and City of Columbia councils to ultimately mandate all pets over six months old be spayed or neutered.
