One dead after single-vehicle collision in Lexington County

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One person is dead after a single-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon in Lexington County, says the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to SCHP, the collision happened on Pine Plane Road, three miles east of Gaston around 2:30 p.m.

Troopers say a Toyota SUV was going south on Old Sandy Run and approached the intersection of Pine Plane Road when it ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and then some trees.

The driver of the SUV was taken to Prisma Health Richland where she later died due to her injuries.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the driver as Elfriede Kreutzer Martin, 87, of Columbia.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
