Shooting determined to be justified after man died in Richland County

The Latest:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has announced that the investigation into the homicide at the 200 block of Wynn Way has been determined as justified and no charges will be made.

The man killed was identified as Antwan Ashley by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators say the woman at the home had an active order of protection on file against Ashley, due to a history of domestic violence.

The man followed the woman to her home on Sunday, Nov. 26 and aggressively approached her and then began swinging at her in an attempt to strike her say Richland County deputies.

Also, deputies say the woman acted in self-defense and shot the man in the torso and he died at the scene.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – There has been a recent development in the investigation of a fatal shooting that occurred earlier today in Richland County.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Wynn Way in response to the shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man who had sustained a gunshot wound. Investigators say the individual succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Additionally, it was also reported that a woman was detained at the location.
