Dakereon Joyner says goodbye to the Gamecocks
Dakereon Joyner, the sixth-year, do-it-all talent for the Gamecocks, said goodbye to South Carolina in a post on social media Wednesday evening.
Joyner declared for the NFL Draft, announcing his decision on X.
“Thank you all for the tremendous amount of love I received throughout these years,” said Joyner. “Your love and support has been unconditional and like no other, and I genuinely appreciate it.”
Joyner spent the last six seasons with the Gamecocks, earning a bachelor’s in sport and entertainment management.
He’s most remembered for his heroics in the 2021 Duke’s Mayo Bowl, leading the Gamecocks to a 38-21 win over North Carolina.
At USC, Joyner played three different positions, including quarterback, receiver and most recently running back. He finished this season with 50 carries for 120 yards in 10 games.
