SC Treasurer’s Office cuts ties with Disney
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– According to the SC Treasurer’s Office website, Treasurer Curtis Loftis has removed The Walt Disney Company from its approved investment list.
Loftis sites what he sees as the company’s political activism as the reason for the move saying “Disney has abandoned its fiduciary responsibilities to its investors and customers by joining far-left activist in boycotting legal, taxpaying, employment-creating corporations to further Disney’s political agenda.”
ABC Columbia has reached out to Disney for a comment.
Loftis is not the first Republican to take aim at Disney.
Florida Gov. Ron Desantis and the GOP-dominated Florida Legislature took control of the district containing the Disney World Parks in Orlando in retaliation after Disney publicly opposed the so-called “Don’t say gay” law banning classroom lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity in early grades.
