Columbia VAHCS still delivers donations despite rain canceling Christmas charity ride

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The vets charity ride for Christmas turned out a little different than planned due to rain on Sunday.

Originally motorcyclists from all over the state were set to ride through Columbia and deliver collected items to the Dorn VA Hospital.

The aim was to provide essential gifts to veterans during this holiday season.

Although the rain forced the cancellation of the ride, it couldn’t stop the delivery of the donations.

According to the organizers, for many veterans at the Dorn VA Hospital this is the only Christmas they will have.

The donated items included bathrobes, sweatshirts, warm gloves, blankets, socks and toiletries which organizers say are needed items for the veterans.
