DHEC releases 2023 State Health Assessment

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A recent report from the state’s health department shows numerous communities feel they can’t live a healthy lifestyle because of a lack of resources.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) released its 2023 health assessment which identifies health disparities in communities and examines health trends.

According to the report, South Carolinians identified access to healthcare, obesity and substance abuse as some of the top health issues.

The report also states that South Carolina is aging with one in every five citizens being over 65.
