SC native receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Former Gamecock, SC native and country music star Darius Rucker was honored with a star.
The SC native received his star on Monday, Dec. 4 in Hollywood, California with the 2,766th star.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to honor the very talented Darius Rucker,” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Rucker achieved multi-platinum status as lead singer for the band Hootie and the Blowfish, which sold more than 25 million albums across the world.
He was inducted as a Grand Ole Opry member in 2012 and later won his third career GRAMMY Award for Best Solo Country Performance with his version of “Wagon Wheel” in 2014.
“This is stuff you don’t even dream about when you’re from South Carolina…all I ever wanted was to be a singer, but you never dream that this stuff is going to happen,” stated Rucker.
